I am writing to you as a voter in your riding and who is employed in our Province’s construction sector. 
 
I am hoping to gather information from all candidates in my riding on an issue that is extremely important to me.  It’s actually an issue that is important for all British Columbians because it speaks to fairness and it speaks to everybody being provided with an opportunity to earn a living.
 
It’s important to know that 85% of the construction workers in BC do not belong to the traditional craft unions (Building Trades Unions).  I am among the 85%.  I pay taxes in this Province and I am pleased that a portion of my taxes go towards building the necessary infrastructure to keep our Province functioning well.  However, I am completely lost as to why I cannot go to work on public infrastructure projects that I help pay for, while maintaining my current union affiliation, my current employer, my current co-workers, my current wages, benefits and the retirement plans that I count on.  My co-workers and I have been told we are not welcome just as we are.

My question is this: Do you support workers' rights and the ability of all British Columbians to work on publicly funded infrastructure projects (like road, bridges, hospitals and schools) without having to change our existing union affiliation or employment situation?
